"Thanks to Richard, we stopped short of buying a total shocker of a boat from another boatyard and Richard found us a better, cheaper equivalent. Also being 'first timers' he and James told us about all the things we should know/buy/be aware of. Thanks for being so helpful and we look forward to a nice summer of sun and sailing (please)"
Karen Dresser, Essex

“I would just like to thank you for delivering my yacht Reverie from Sandwich to Ipswich. It was done in the most efficient and professional way at a very reasonable cost and the feed back from the passage was very useful. I enjoyed my stay on the mooring at Highway, I found everyone most friendly and helpful.”
R Parkin, Ipswich

"In October 2012, James from Highway Marine assisted me in moving my boat from Sandwich to Hayling Island. I can honestly say that I would trust him to move any boat of mine, anywhere in the world. James organised the entire trip, he supplied charts and planned for the correct tide/weather windows. He took great care over every procedure and was always fully in control. We had the perfect day and James was more than happy to have me come along for the ride, during which I was able to pick his brain on all manor of boating questions.
If I ever need my boat moving again and did not feel confident enough, or have the time to do it myself, my first port of call would be Highway Marine. Thank you so much guys for all your support in getting Paws back on to the water and a special thank you to James, who helped me move her on her first, of hopefully many journeys”.

A Sanderson, Oxford

“Just wanted to drop you a quick line to say thank you for all your help in the sale of ‘Phoenix’ and thank you for the 2 life jackets - you might see me and Jasmine going along the river in our dinghy! ;-) Thanks again.”

“James took my dutch barge Roma round the Kent coast and up the Thames to London. As well as being immensely competent he was a fine company. It was a first rate passage and his piloting/delivery was a first rate service.”
Dan Re'em, London

"I imported a boat from England to Sweden through Highway Marine Group. When investing so much time and money in your dream, you don’t want anything to go wrong - especially doing it from abroad. Richard and his team did a great job. They are very service-minded and helped me with every matter along the way, including paper work, transport etc. Above all, they are honest, straight people that care about their customers and reputation. I would definitely buy another boat from through Highway Marine Group."
Michael B. Gothenburg, Sweden.

“Just a quick email to congratulate you on the purchase of our lovely ‘Reverie’. We wish you very many happy voyages aboard her. Thanks, too, to Richard for all your help in the sale process.”
Michael & Felicia Foster

“I would like to say how enjoyable it has been dealing with yourself and your company. You are not only knowledgeable but incredibly helpful, in fact you are the first broker I have been pleased to deal with. I have always bought privately in the past.”
Neil Sutherland, Dorchester

“Hi James and Richard, I would just like to thank you for delivering my yacht Reverie from Sandwich to Ipswich and for the feed back afterwards. It was done in the most efficient and professional way at a very reasonable cost and the feed back from the passage was very useful I enjoyed my stay in the mooring at Highway I found everyone most friendly and helpful. Thank you all very much. I hope to meet you all again sometime.”
Robin Parkin

“Finally purchased the 1997 Four Winns Vista 258 for £18,500 accepting a slightly higher price because it had had a new engine so I think your valuation was spot on.”

“Thank you very much for the cheque for the sale of Mergarer. Thank you also for your help over the last few months and the speedy completion of business once an offer had been made.”
Nick Lockhart

"Just a quick note to say thanks for easing through our purchase of the yacht ‘Dreamcatcher’ with the minimum amount of fuss. Thanks also to James for the excellent delivery service of the boat from Ramsgate to Chichester.  My apologies for not organising the right wind, and for him having to motorsail for nigh on 23 hours. The boat was delivered smack on time too. Great doing business with Highway Marine – highly recommended."
Mike Nicholson

Hello Gents. Bill of sale now in the post which hopefully concludes everything. Just want to say a massive thanks for all your help. What was turning into a nightmare finished beautifully once in the hands of the Highway marine boys. Amazingly quick sale which is great for all.
One large worry off my mind. Thanks again and see you soon. Cheers

Jim Woods, Beaumont, Essex

HILLYARD 37 (reduced)

Year: 1958
LOA: 35’
Beam: 9’ 7”
Draft: 4’ 8”
Construction: Mahogony on oak
Hull / Keel: Long

“’Zuzu’ was originally named ‘Joallma’ and her name was officially changed in September 2001. She has been extensively sailed since I bought her in July 2001 when she was moored at Southsea. I moved her to Brighton, then to Chichester Marina and later back to Brighton. We have had many holidays and long weekends with family and friends sailing to the French Channel ports and to The Solent, as well as day sailing from Chichester Harbour and Brighton. I lived on ‘Zuzu’ from 2001 until 2007 and found her to be very comfortable and suitable as a liveaboard boat, albeit rather like going back fifty years in time in terms of facilities. She is very much as she left Hillyard’s yard in Littlehampton in 1959, for example she still has her original Bakelite light switches. She sails like a typical Hillyard. She doesn’t point very high and makes slow going until the wind gets up to a force 3 and then she starts to make progress; good for 6 or 7 knots in a blow. Like all Hillyard's, ‘Zuzu’ is very seaworthy and her long keel and weight make her rock steady when sailing to weather even when conditions get bad. She is certainly the safest boat I have owned. Hillyard marketed these boats as safe family cruisers when they were new and that is exactly what they are. The engine is a BMC Commander and I’ve never been sure if it’s the original engine which, in the Certificate of British Registry, was originally shown as a Morris Cowley 35 BHP. I have had the engine regularly serviced and a few years ago had the gearbox refurbished and had the gearbox cover replaced. I also had the glow plugs replaced at about the same time. The engine has not been used very much as I doubt that it’s been run for more than 20 hours a year since I’ve owned her and it continues to start on command and run well. ‘Zuzu’ is constructed of 1” mahogany on oak frames. Since I bought her I have replaced the saloon and cockpit soles, replaced the spray hood, cockpit tent and other canvas, replaced the standing rigging and fitted stainless steel chain plates. An electric bilge pump has been fitted and, following the recent survey, a float switch has been connected to it. A modern toilet has been fitted replacing the original. The tabernacle has been replaced. I had the Eberspacher heating system installed about ten years ago and have had it serviced every year; last year I had a new control box fitted. All of the skin fittings were replaced in June 2013. ‘Zuzu’ is on the National Register of Historic ships see: http://www.nationalhistoricships.org.uk/register/2478/zuzu
